Art Workshops and Art Classes

I have had experience teaching to a variety of groups including the following:

  • Introductory technique workshops at Palmerston and Casuarina public libraries
  • Art classes at Casuarina Adult Nightschool
  • Specialist Art workshops at Territory Craft
  • Primary School Children
  • Secondary School years 8 – 12
  • Specialist technique workshops for University level students
  • School Holiday Art Classes at the Museum

I have developed workshops that range from 2 - 4 hours through to weekend workshops and 4 - 8 week workshops with classes that run for 3 - 4 hours once a week. The workshops that I have developed and delivered cover mediums and techniques such as the following:

Demonstration

For a step by step demonstration of an East-West fusion style watercolour painting see below:

Plan and sketch out composition, using reference photos

Mask edges using masking fluid, allow to dry completely before starting any painting

Mix background paint colours into separate bowls and allocate a separate brush for each colour
Step 4

Wet all the background area using large Hake brush and clean water
Step 5

Start dropping lightest background colours in (yellow and orange), allow paint to spread by itself

Add red coloured paint and allow it to react with other colours and move across paper by itself
Step 7

Add blue paint sparingly so that it doesn't overpower the lighter colours, blow wet paint across page to create branching effect

Once background has dried completely remove the masking fluid by gently erasing.

Paint in details of birds, branches and fruit

Add Chinese stamp and signature
