Introductory technique workshops at Palmerston and Casuarina public librariesI have developed workshops that range from 2 - 4 hours through to weekend workshops and 4 - 8 week workshops with classes that run for 3 - 4 hours once a week. Step 1Plan and sketch out composition, using reference photos |

Step 2Mask edges using masking fluid, allow to dry completely before starting any painting |

Step 3Mix background paint colours into separate bowls and allocate a separate brush for each colour |

Step 4Wet all the background area using large Hake brush and clean water |

Step 5Start dropping lightest background colours in (yellow and orange), allow paint to spread by itself |

Step 6Add red coloured paint and allow it to react with other colours and move across paper by itself |

Step 7Add blue paint sparingly so that it doesn't overpower the lighter colours, blow wet paint across page to create branching effect |

Step 8Once background has dried completely remove the masking fluid by gently erasing. Paint in details of birds, branches and fruit |

Step 9Add Chinese stamp and signature |
